Welcome to yeahECO!

  • How is solid bamboo board made ?

After four to five years, bamboo poles have reach maturity and are ready for harvest.

After harvesting, the bamboo poles are cut into desired length and split lengthwise into strips. The outer skin (bark) is removed. By nature, the strips are a light yellow color. If strips are steamed in a oven by high temperatue and hige pressure, the strips will become caramel color.

Then drying, fine shaping and color selecting, the processed stripes are ready to be glued and put into pressing machine for raw engineered bamboo board making.

The strips are pressed by two directions, horizontally and vertically. Horizontally positioned gives flat grain look, creates an elegant wider line pattern with the characteristic bamboo nodes clearly visible. Verticlly positioned gives edge grain look, creates a narrower line pattern with the bamboo nodes visible in a subtle way.

  • How is the high density (HD) strand bamboo board made ?

The high desity (HD) strand bamboo board making process are as following steps:

    1.    Harvesting: Harvest bamboo culms

    2.    Cutting: cut culms into desired length

    3.    Splitting: split the cut culms into strips with width roughly equal.

    4.    Shredding: This shredding process breaks down the bamboo strips into strands, which are then cleaned and dried.

    5.    Boiling or carbonizing: The bamboo strands are boiled or steamed in oven with high pressure to remove the sugar and starch, kill any insect eggs, prevent from mold, get bamboo strand carbonized in need.

    6.    Drying: Dry to bamboo strand moisture content below 10%.

    7.    Soaking glue: Drop into the glue pool to get all bamboo strand soak glue properly.

    8.    Compressing: put glued bamboo strand into compressing machine. The compressing machine is with a pressure of 2800 tons and a pressure of 0.19Mpa/cm2, which ensures get density above 1150kg/m3. Under intense pressure, these strands are compressed tightly. To hot compressing method, compressing and heating are done in the same time to get strand bamboo boards. To cold compressing method, compressing first and then do curing in a kiln to harden the adhesive to get strand bamboo blocks.

    9.    Trim off the rough edges and sand to get strand bamboo board for different uses.

  • What and how the colors are of engineered bamboo board or high density strand bamboo board made ?

Yellow-white (also called natural) color and caramel (also called coffee or carbonized) color are two basic colors for engineered bamboo board or high density strand bamboo board.  These two colors come respectively from bamboo fiber natural color itself and carbonization process by oven steaning with high temperature and high pressure, These two colors are naturally without adding any dying chemicals.

Finishing process with added dying chemical colors in coating can give finished bamboo products with any other colors people desired.

  • Why do engineered bamboo board and high density strand bamboo board get more uses ?

  • What glue are used in YeahEco bamboo engineered products ?

The glue we use for making the bamboo engineered boards is Dynea brand, which is recongnized  by world-wide users for its eco-friendly.
